About SJM

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Social Justice Movement, Ltd. emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2020, we are an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support.

SJM focuses on community first, primarily youth and young adults. We desire for minority youth and young adults to have the tools and resources needed to see themselves in professional spaces that lack diversity. SJM works in phases focusing on different professional fields and platforms  that lack diversity. Phase one focuses on the legal field. In recognizing that less than 15% of  attorneys are persons of color, SJM is stepping in to bridge that gap and provide the necessary tools and resources for young persons of color to become apart of legal professional spaces.

Research shows that a lack of representation, education, and financial stability are the primary obstacles that face minority persons who desire to see themselves as a licensed practitioner. Therefore, SJM  provides mentorship and educational workshops that evolve around gaining knowledge, understanding, and community in order for our members to better perform on the journey to licensure. SJM also fundraises to help assist participants with the overwhelming costs of becoming a licensed professional.

SJM is ready to see our community flourish in ways it hasn't before.

We recognize the importance of bridging the humongous gap between minorities and non-minorities in the legal field. SJM wants to see minorities more present in law firms, judge chambers, and anywhere where laws are discussed.

Overall, SJM wants to see our future generation well equipped with the knowledge not to just survive in this ever-changing world, but to change the current makeup so that survival is no longer a necessity to our life.
